As part of the schools’ celebration of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore, staff and students of Orchid Park Secondary School formed the largest Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Logo using canned food tins. The canned food, totalling 3468, were donated by the staff and students and will be given to needy families in Singapore through Central Singapore Community Development Council (CDC). The 8.6m by 6.8m logo was entered into the Singapore Book of Records on 9th July 2010.
Through this project, our students were made more aware of the value of compassion and the importance of active citizenry. This also served as a platform for the student leaders of the school to hone their leadership and organizational skills in the organization of the event.
