The FReE@OPSS Olympic Wall was officially declared open by our Principal, Mrs Tan and our Vice Principal, Mr Nath. This wall was put up to inspire our students to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Friendship, Respect and Excellence.
Why FReE? We hope that we will one day, experience total peace on Earth. This is one of the main reasons why the founder of the Modern Olympic started the Olympic Movement.
The FReE@OPSS Olympic Wall showcases a whole-school approach in educating our students on the Olympic values. The wall comprises 4 components: the middle section contains information about the history of the Ancient Games and what the Modern Olympic Games is all about. It also explains the Olympic symbol, the Olympic Motto, the Olympic Creed, the Olympic Athletes’ Oath and the Olympic torch relay.
The left section of the wall feature stories of past and present Singapore athletes who have done Singapore proud at the Olympic Games. The Singapore Heroes of the recent Asian Young Games (AYG) held in Singapore are also featured on this wall.
The right section of the wall contains information of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and the Asian Young Games (AYG) in Singapore.
Surrounding these 3 sections are logos of the past Summer Olympic Games. It provides information on where and when they were held. |
